The BMV officially began accepting walk-in customers for road driving tests in 2017. The walk-in road testing originated at the driver exam station in Hilliard beginning Jan. 2017 and has expanded. To date, 28,883 walk-in tests have been conducted.

Did you know? The Driver Simulator pilot program went live on July 13, 2017, at the driver exam station on Morse Road in Columbus, Ohio. The Driver Simulator software was constructed to provide participants with typical driving scenarios that test the ability of the driver to respond appropriately. Common scenarios include routine traffic controls, merging, emergency vehicles, school zones, pedestrians and railroad crossings. The Ohio BMV is leading the nation through implementation of portable driver simulators in three driver exam stations within Franklin County.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, child safety seats have been shown to reduce fatal injury by 71% for infants (under 1 year) and 54% for toddlers (1 - 4 years) in passenger cars.

*This closure is for the DR only, the title office is not affected.

A new Netflix docuseries, “Medal of Honor,” an eight part series featuring different recipients of the Medal of Honor accolade, will feature Sgt. Sylvester Antolak an Ohioan, in the first episode. Sgt. Antolak was killed by enemy fire in 1944 but not before taking out enemy forces during World War II. To commemorate his bravery, part of I-70 that runs through St. Clairsville was dedicated in Sgt. Antolak’s name earlier this year. This week, Sgt. Antolak’s nephew Paul and Richard Stobbs from the Attorney General’s Crime Victim Services office, presented Ohio BMV Registrar Don Petit with a miniature version of the highway sign on behalf of the Antolak family.

The Findlay Deputy Registrar and IRP Office located at 210 County Rd. 140 Suite A, Findlay, OH 45840 has reopened for business. The office was closed Monday due to a water pipe burst.
